If John isn’t living at Baker Street and yet we see it still looks the same as when Sherlock & John were there, filled with (mostly Sherlock’s) furniture and belongings, then does that mean we get The Empty House-canonical situation of Mycroft having been paying the rent to Mrs Hudson during his absence?
Mycroft had preserved my rooms and my papers exactly as they had always been.
#Sherlock thinks everything is going to be the same#and he can just sli back in to where he left#but John isn’t in Baker street anymore#people have moved on#London is different#he doesn’t *fit* where he used to anymore#and just like he has to get to know London again#he has to get to know the people that he loves#the people that he dissapeared for in he first place#the very thing that he did to save the people he loved to preserve his life as it was#will displace those people and his life completely#and watching him have to deal with that even at the level of not getting what he wants (x)
This gave me a lot of feelings.

I was sitting on sea ice when I heard a little peep over my shoulder.
Look how embarrassed he gets! ^_^
